2010 Laredo Birding Festival

6:30-8 p.m.
Savor Laredo’s famous Ojo Rojo, our signature drink, and hear from Arthur Morris, a freelance nature photographer and writer who is widely published and whose images have been recognized internationally.  Learn more about him at his website: www.birdsasart.com.  He has been a Canon contract photographer for 15 years.  His images, known for their technical perfection and artistic design, have been featured in American Birds, Audubon, Birding, Birder's World, Bird Watcher's Digest, Florida Wildlife and Nature, Living Bird Nature Photographer, Popular Photography, and National Geographic among others.  Mr. Morris will also be one of the photo workshop leaders during the subsequent days of the event.

Cathy and Gordon Illg present A Year in the Life of a Nature Photographer--a humorous and informative look at what it takes to be a nature photographer. According to their website, www.advenphoto.com, Cathy and Gordon are Certified International Tour Managers, and as full time nature photographers their work is widely published. Some of their accolades include numerous covers of magazines like Backpacker, Defenders, National Geographic Young Explorer and National Wildlife.  Several of their more brilliant images decorate the tails of Frontier Airlines’ jets, and thier second book, Dynamic Wildlife Photography, has been well received. Cathy and Gordon will also be leading photo workshops during the event.

Kathy Adams Clark presents “Tropical Birds” an overview of her work from Central and South America. Kathy Adams Clark has been a professional nature photographer since 1995. She runs a stock agency that represents the work of fifteen outstanding nature photographers. Kathy’s work has been published in many places including Nature’s Best, New York Times, Birder’s World, Texas Highways and Family Fun. Her photos have also appeared in a numerous books and calendars including the 2010 Barnes & Noble Ireland Countryside Calendar and the cover of the 2010 Arbor Foundation Rainforest Calendar.

Images for Conservation Landowner Photographer Matching Dinner at Embassy Suites. This event will be the closing dinner for the Laredo Birding Festival and the launch of a new project for Laredo, the 2010 Pro Tour of Nature Photography: The Texas Borderlands of Laredo Competition. Shuttle service will be provided to and from the evening event by the Laredo CVB.
